If you are a Montgomery-area high school senior – or the parent, teacher, or counselor of one – mark November 1, 2026 on your calendar. That is the date the Boswell Family Charitable Foundation opens applications for the 2026-2027 Scholarship Cycle.
This year’s Class of 2026 has reminded us why this work matters. Maryam Khan, Jayden Barnes, Connor Owens, and Madison Brundidge – four students heading to UAB, Howard University, Morehouse College, and UAB – represent what is possible when a community invests in its young people. If you have read their stories, you have seen the kind of student we are looking for: academically driven, community-committed, and genuinely hopeful about what they can build with the right support behind them.
The next cycle opens in four months. Here is what incoming applicants need to know now.
The Boswell Family Scholarship
The Boswell Family Scholarship is awarded to qualifying Montgomery-area high school seniors who demonstrate academic excellence, financial need, personal character, and a clear commitment to their community. There are no restrictions on field of study – we are investing in the student, not the major. Multiple awards are made each cycle.
The Eron L. Coleman STEM Scholarship
Named in honor of Eron L. Coleman, this award is designated for students pursuing careers in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics. Applicants pursuing STEM fields are automatically considered for both the Boswell Family Scholarship and the Coleman STEM Scholarship – there is no separate application.
Who Is Eligible
The scholarships are open to current high school seniors attending a Montgomery-area high school who plan to enroll in a two- or four-year college or university, can demonstrate financial need, have maintained a strong academic record, and have contributed to their community through service, leadership, or both.
What the Application Includes
The application requires a transcript, a personal essay, a resume documenting activities and community involvement, a financial need statement, and letters of recommendation. Our review process is blind – applications are evaluated without identifying information – which means your essay, your record, and your character are what rise to the top.

Award announcements for the 2026-2027 cycle will be made on April 15, 2027 – two weeks before National College Decision Day – so recipients can make fully informed enrollment decisions.
