Today, the Boswell Family Charitable Foundation officially launches the 2026 Give a Child a Christmas campaign — our annual initiative to ensure that children in the Montgomery area who are experiencing hardship have a gift to open on Christmas morning.
We are starting on July 1 for a reason. Running the campaign from July through November means our team can source gifts intentionally rather than frantically, our donors have four and a half months to contribute without feeling pressured by a December deadline, and every child we enroll can be served with equal care. This is Christmas in July — and the operational case for it is just as strong as the emotional one.
What Is Give a Child a Christmas?
G.A.C.A.C. is a Christ-centered program built around one simple promise: every child we enroll receives a gift on Christmas morning. Not most children. Not the ones whose profiles are most compelling to donors. Every child.
For families navigating financial hardship, the holidays can be the most visible and painful reminder of what they don’t have. A wrapped gift with a child’s name on it doesn’t solve that hardship — but it sends a message that cuts through it: you were not forgotten. Someone in this community chose to think of you.
A Change We’re Proud to Make: The Pooled Fund Model
This year, we made a structural change to how G.A.C.A.C. works – and we want to be transparent about it.
Traditional per-child giving models ask donors to select an individual child’s profile. The problem: children whose profiles go unselected go without. In a community where every child deserves equal consideration, that isn’t a system we can stand behind.
The 2026 campaign operates on a fully pooled giving model. Every dollar donated – regardless of amount, regardless of when it arrives during the campaign window – enters a unified fund. Every enrolled child is served equally from that fund. No child goes without because their profile was overlooked.
This is better for the children we serve. It is also better for donors, who can give with the confidence that their contribution works alongside every other gift to serve the whole community.
